A quality early childhood education provides the foundation for a lifetime, and the values established when we are young provide direction for the future. At Key Biscayne Presbyterian School, we focus on providing our students with learning experiences that support their academic growth and help build positive values. One of the values we prioritize is caring for the world around us. Our Outdoor Classroom, spacious playgrounds, and school garden all offer our students opportunities to connect with nature authentically and learn the importance of stewardship of our natural resources.
Our Give Miami Day donations will be used this year to upgrade our Outdoor Classroom. This space provides our students with the opportunity to explore a variety of natural materials in a "loose parts" modality which encourages problem-solving, creativity and teamwork. Playing in the mud kitchen or creating with objects found around the playgrounds puts children in touch with the natural environment and allows them to express ideas. Our Outdoor Classroom needs a new roof to provide protection over the two tables where the children often enjoy working. Another feature of our Outdoor Classroom is the coop where our small flock of chickens lives. We must provide our hens with a more comfortable and safe area to call home. We would like to have a coop that offers each hen their own nesting box as well as a secure enclosure that will protect them from the raccoons and iguanas on the property. Our design will give our flock of 4 a very comfortable home AND leave more space in the Outdoor Classroom for the children. We are so "eggcited" to see this project come to fruition!!
At KBPS our goal is to develop curious and kind life-long learners. Our Curriculum focuses on important developmental areas while covering the academic skills necessary to succeed in school.
KBPS utilizes a learning approach which immerses the children in the local community and environment, to connect their learning to the world they see every day. Founded on Christian values, our students learn and practice caring for each other and the world they live in.
