  4. Partnered with HistoryMiami to curate Mythic Miami, an exhibit of regional creatures.
  5. Gained over 10,000 instagram followers by sharing hidden history content. FOLLOW US @ISLANDIAJOURNAL
  6. Been named the "Best Zine of 2021" by the Miami New Times
  7. Been selected as a finalist for the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses' Firecracker awards in the category of "Best Debut Magazine"
  8. Been featured on WLRN's Sundial program
  9. Launched the beta version of our digital publication at islandia.substack.com

By the end of 2023, we'll have published a total of NINE issues of our magazine. Every story, poem, or piece of visual art published in the print magazine or on our social media reflects the environment of South Florida in some unique way; whether it's a map of a man-made lake in Pinecrest, an ode to dulce de leche cortada, an essay about UFO sightings in South Florida,  or an issue chockfull of Skunk Ape lore. these pieces are about what makes our home so special.

Mission

Islandia Journal is a nonprofit literary magazine focused on the publication of writing and art by and for South Floridians. We publish a quarterly print magazine, maintain a digital library of regional ephemera, and share hidden histories on our instagram account. It's our mission to provide paid publishing opportunities for South Florida creatives, and also to share reexamined histories with a wide audience.
