The Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade (HSCMD) is a community-based non-profit organization designated and funded by the State of Florida Department of Health and the Agency for Health Care Administration to serve as Miami-Dade County's prenatal and infant care coalition. HSCMD partners with local community-based organizations and healthcare professionals to plan, coordinate and provide high quality health and education services to women of childbearing age, children to age three and their families.

Programs & Projects:

CONNECT: Through universal screenings, Connect provides a one-stop entry point for pregnant women and caregivers of infants and their families to needed services.
CONNECT IMPACT from 7/1/21 - 6/30/22:
24,479 prenatal women & 18,690 infant universal risk screens were processed
10,219 prenatal women & 17,014 infants were referred from those risk screens
12,423 prenatal women were referred from SOBRA
1,837 prenatal & 1,676 infant community referrals

HOME VISITING PROGRAM: Healthy Start's Home Visiting Program offers education, support and proven interventions to expecting and new families who are at-risk of a poor birth outcome or
delay in development, regardless of insurance coverage or citizenship. Families can participate in Healthy Start beginning in pregnancy and until their baby reaches age 1. Services can be
extended up to age 3.
Home Visiting Program IMPACT from 7/1/21 - 6/30/22:
2,757 pregnant women, 62 ICC & 3,087 infants were referred

MOVING BEYOND DEPRESSION: Moving Beyond Depression is an evidence-based, comprehensive approach that identifies and treats depression in mothers. Master's level mental health
clinicians deliver In-Home Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to foster rapid recovery and promote positive outcomes for mothers and children.

FIMR: Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) focuses on local issues associated with fetal and infant mortality.

Our mission is to reduce poor birth outcomes (premature births, low birth weight, and infant mortality) and improve health and developmental milestones by providing education and linkage to resources in Miami-Dade County.
