Housing Opportunities Project for Excellence (HOPE), Inc. (or HOPE Fair Housing Center) is a nonprofit that fights housing discrimination in Florida's Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. We tell people about their fair housing rights and/or responsibilities, and if people think that they're facing discrimination, they can call us and we help them out. Our assistance includes investigations that lead to lawsuits and referrals for other services, as needed. Everything we do is free!
Since its 1988 inception, HOPE has been instrumental in the recovery of over $12 million in out-of-court settlements for victims of housing discrimination.
Again, we are a free resource - having us come talk to home seekers or providers (renting or buying) is free; calling us to make a complaint is free; our investigations are free; referrals to other related services are free. Our staff speaks English and Spanish, but we have community partners to help us translate into other languages. We have free brochures and flyers that are available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
