Bringing Hope and Support to Miami’s Homeless Community

Hermanos de la Calle (HDLC) is a Miami-based grassroots nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of homeless individuals and families across our city. What began as a small group of families sharing warm meals and conversation in downtown Miami and Overtown has grown into a vibrant organization connecting hundreds of people with resources, shelter, and pathways to rebuild their lives.

Since our founding to the closing of September 2025, we’ve served 5,629 people and helped 5,192 leave homelessness behind. We’ve also supported over 500 veterans, helping 172 find permanent housing and assisting more than 100 through homelessness prevention programs.

We combine the strength of the Continuum of Care network with the compassion of our community and the dedication of more than 500 volunteers. Each year, we serve thousands of individuals—creating lasting change not only for those in need, but also for those who step up to serve.

Our Goal: $75,000

This Give Miami Day, we’re aiming to raise $75,000 to support mothers, families, and individuals rebuilding their lives through compassion, stability, and community.

Programs Your Donation Supports

  • Hearts for Life Maternity Home: Our Hearts for Life program is more than a home — it’s a nurturing, joyful environment where pregnant mothers can flourish. Since June 2024, we have welcomed 25 pregnant mothers and twelve healthy babies into our care, supporting mothers as they begin this new chapter with confidence and love. At the maternity home, we:

    • Offer guidance, therapy, and workshops including professional skills (resume building, job training, networking), creative arts (art and dance classes), yoga, cooking, and parenting.

    • Provide bonding activities and a peaceful, home-like environment to foster emotional wellbeing.

    • Ensure access to medical care and transportation to appointments, helping moms and babies stay healthy.

    • Source donations and essential materials for mothers and their babies, from clothing to baby gear.

  • Housing Program: Offers safe, long-term housing solutions to individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness. We have 25 homes all over Miami Dade, housing men and women, some of which are recovery residences. The program empowers individuals to achieve lasting stability through permanent, supportive housing. Here’s how it works:

    • We provide fully managed homes across, covering utilities and basic setup for the first month.

    • Residents transition into independent living, sharing homes with others in similar circumstances, fostering community and mutual support.

    • We assist with job searches, benefits navigation, and case management, helping residents secure income and maintain their housing.

    • Residents self-manage their homes, including cleaning and shared responsibilities, preparing them for full independence.
