Talent is everywhere — but opportunity is not.

Kids are awesome. They’re creative. They’re fearless. They’re bursting with energy and hungry for knowledge. They know how to make the most of every opportunity.

But kids from our most vulnerable communities don’t always have the chance to discover just how awesome they can be. These kids are filled with promise. They have big dreams and bold stories to tell. And yet, due to circumstances and systems beyond their control, they don't always know that they have the freedom to choose a path of their own.

At Guitars Over Guns, we’re changing that through music and art, because we believe that creativity, combined with strong, consistent mentorship, can reshape the trajectory of a young person’s life.

During the 2025–2026 school year, we are delivering free, high-impact after-school programming to more than 1000 youth ages 11–21 across 20 schools and 5 community studios in Miami-Dade County. Our programs are led by a dedicated team of more than 60 professional teaching artists — mentors we pay and train to provide trauma-informed, relationship-based mentorship. In fact, over $1 million of our Miami budget goes directly toward compensating these incredible artists who show up for our youth three days a week.

Our mentors teach students to take healthy risks, like getting on stage for the first time, and to work as a team. They also hold youth accountable — checking grades, encouraging practice, and reminding them of their goals. We believe that every young person deserves the chance to discover and reach their full potential through the power of mentorship and the arts.

Alongside, our after school sessions and through our M-Power Mental Health & Wellness Program, we support students’ emotional and creative growth. And through our Alumni Program, we help high-school youth navigate college and career pathways with confidence.

Your support also powers all instruments and two summer intensives in Miami and funds out-of-state enrichment programs, including scholarships for students to attend the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp and the once-in-a-lifetime GRAMMY Camp experience.
