Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GMYS) began in 1958. Over 67 seasons GMYS has grown into a year-round, multi-tiered community music education program with students ranging in age from birth to 18. GMYS has been a flagship of music education excellence for decades through large ensembles, beginning instrument classes, and before/after school programming. Each year GMYS opens its season with  “Spooky Symphony” to a sold-out crowd of over 2000 audience members in collaboration with Alhambra Orchestra. Our performances also include our gala concerts in December and May as well as outreach concerts such as our Concert for a Cause: Autism Acceptance. GMYS has collaborated with artists such as The Boston Brass, Joshua Bell, Darrin Milling, and more. GMYS students grow into wonderful musicians, citizens and community members. Alumni include William Skeen of Voices of Music, Karlos Rodriguez of the Catalyst Quartet, Eduardo Luengo Sphinx Winner, and Tommy Mesa Avery Fischer Career Grant Winner.
