Keeping Sustainability Education Alive for 20 Years & Beyond

For 20 years, Dream in Green (DIG) has empowered South Florida students, educators, and families to create a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient future. Today, that work matters more, as South Florida children are growing up with extreme heat, water challenges, storms, waste, energy costs, and climate resilience shaping everyday life.

Since 2006, our Green Schools Challenge program has reached 180,000 students, helping schools save $5.2 million in energy costs and prevent 88.6 million pounds of CO₂ emissions. This year alone, 150 South Florida schools are counting on the Green Schools Challenge to give students the tools to become environmental leaders.

Additionally, through our Water & Energy - Learning and Behavior (WE-LAB) workshops, in partnership with Miami-Dade County and various municipalities within, households are able to reduce their water and energy usage while increasing their recycling efforts. We've helped more than 4,700 local families conserve water and energy—and our new Recyclepedia.info initiative is making it easier for residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

As we celebrate 20 years of impact, funding cuts threaten these vital programs at a time when climate education and community action are more important than ever. We can't let these programs disappear.

Your Give Miami Day gift can help keep environmental education thriving for the next generation.

Together, let's celebrate 20 years by investing in the next 20. Give today. Protect environmental education. Invest in the next generation.

Mission

Dream in Green (DIG) was founded in 2006 to address the unique environmental challenges that threaten the future viability of South Florida. Our mission is to empower individuals, especially youth, to lead in the response to climate change and other environmental challenges facing our community. We assist diverse organizations, including schools, households, local governments and businesses to reduce their environmental footprint. Through establishing partnerships in our community, we develop, implement and oversee educational programs and workshops that promote environmentally sustainable behaviors among all age groups, with a particular emphasis on our youth.

DIG is best-known for the Green Schools Challenge, which provides dedicated sustainability education to K-12 students in public and private schools across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, including some of the most underserved and at-risk communities in South Florida. DIG has directly served over 100,000 individuals.
