• Musical Initiation: Children and youth become acquainted with auditory stimulation and music notation, while being stimulated intellectually, artistically, and emotionally. We continuously evaluate participants' individual skills and adapt the instruction to their learning styles and individual needs. We encourage a playful environment so that children and youth have fun while they learn and develop their musical skills. Classes include body expression and staging, vocational education, rhythm, musical expression, relaxation, basic instrument practice, and spatial-temporal orientation. Classes take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for two to three hours daily and participants attend them for 6 months on average.
• Symphony orchestra: Youth who have achieved an adequate level of proficiency become integrated into the orchestra, where they have an opportunity to enhance their musical knowledge and their dexterity in interpreting their assigned instrument. The orchestra practice is based in sequential repertoires for specific pitch levels, advancing in complexity as the curriculum progresses. The orchestra is also an opportunity to enhance participants' social skills and self-confidence.
• Concerts: At least two times per year (Anniversary in June and Holiday concert in December) YES organizes and performs in a public venue. Program participants also get invited to perform with other organizations like St. Jude Research Children's Hospital, GiGi's Playhouse, The Miami Symphony Orchestra, and Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute.
• Ensemble: Optional activity mostly led by children and youth participating in the program. It provides participants with the opportunity to explore folkloric instruments and perform more popular music. It is meant to be a freestyle, allowing children and youth to explore other musical experiences. It usually takes place on Saturdays.

Mission

At Y.E.S, we aim to increase access to high-quality music education early in life to empower and transform children and youth of all abilities, ages k through 12. Through an inclusive and enriching music program that combines artistic development with social-emotional growth, we strive to bridge educational gaps and provide a safe, supportive environment that fosters personal empowerment, social integration, and academic achievement by nurturing each participant's unique potential and cultivating essential life skills through musical instruction and social values. Our mission is to break cycles of poverty and provide positive alternatives to at-risk youth, ensuring a brighter future for every child we serve in underserved communities.
