WEST MIAMI MIDDLE SCHOOL PTSA

West Miami Middle School (WMMS) is home to 641 students in grades 6th through 8th. The campus opened in 1954, and in 2000 a new wing which includes state of the art science laboratories and extra classrooms was erected. We enjoy a long history of serving the community as a revered educational institution. The focus has been expanded to incorporate incentive programs that recognize and motivate academic and behavioral success.

West Miami Middle School's ECOTEC (Ecology and Technology) Magnet also features an accelerated curriculum in Environmental Science and Technology featuring inquiry-based hands-on learning. Through West Miami Middle School's partnership with scientists and community organizations such as Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Connect to Protect, Everglades National Park Education, Biscayne National Park Education, DERM, and Natural Areas Management, the program allows students to improve their community while being educated on the importance of sustainable environmental practices and the latest in scientific technology.

The WMMS PTSA has pledged to renovate the designated 2,000 SF Garden space. Once completed, the Garden will serve as an educational space where the students will have hands on experiences with planting and growing sustainable foods, creating habitats for natural wildlife, maintaining the health of the Garden and learn to protect our endangered species (plants and wildlife included). With your help, we can do this!

Additionally, the WMMS PTSA has made an impact on the Teachers by providing them with new appliances for the Teachers lounge so now all the buildings include a place where the Teachers can gather and have their lunch without having to leave their building.
