Viernes Culturales/Cultural Fridays, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 organization which has hosted the popular Viernes Culturales/Cultural Fridays art, music and culture festival since 2000, Viernes Culturales works daily to preserve the History and Culture of the Nationally Recognized Historic Little Havana Neighborhood and manages the ONLY official Welcome Center in the neighborhood thanks to the help of donors and volunteer supporters. The Little Havana Welcome Center is NOW open daily from 10-4pm 7 days a week and includes a Free Little Havana Map produced by Viernes Culturales in conjunction with the GMCVB (The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Center) that highlights all the rich culture and history of the neighbohood. In addition Viernes Culturales works tirelessley towards the Historic preservation of the neighborhood and its historic assets.
The mission of Viernes Culturales/Cultural Fridays is to promote cultural awareness of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood, and to act as a cultural liaison for the artistic community and the general public of Miami, visitors and tourists.
Serving as a viable incubator for the artistic community, Viernes Culturales/Cultural Fridays is a powerful venue for talented visual and performing artists to showcase their work and establish their identities.
Viernes Culturales/Cultural Fridays’ ongoing objective is:
• To promote cultural, artistic and economic renaissance of Historic Little Havana
• To accelerate the transformation of Little Havana’s arts district
• To bring people of different cultures together and promote social interaction
• To promote economic revitalization and tourism
• To provide an ongoing venue for talented visual artists and entertainers to showcase their work while linking the artist community to the public
• To preserve the history of Little Havana through a series of historic walking tours and symposiums, collective exhibits, collaborative showcases and art classes.
