Since our founding in April 2022, UFAR Animal Rescue & Ocala Sanctuary has helped nearly 4,000 dogs and cats find loving homes through adoption while providing lifesaving care, refuge, and hope to thousands of others still waiting for their second chance.

Today, more than 350 dogs and cats call UFAR Animal Rescue & Ocala Sanctuary home, relying on us for safety, healing, and hope after surviving abandonment, neglect, abuse, medical hardship, life on the streets, and the loss of the families they once knew.

At UFAR, we do not place limits on who deserves help.

We rescue newborn kittens that require bottle feeding every few hours.

We rescue puppies and senior dogs.

We rescue healthy animals and critically ill animals.

We rescue dogs and cats abandoned on the streets, victims of neglect, and animals discarded by commercial breeders.

We rescue the forgotten, the overlooked, and those with nowhere else to turn.

Need is what moves us.

As a no-kill rescue and sanctuary, we believe every dog and cat deserves time, patience, medical care, and the opportunity to be loved.

Some find homes within days.

Others wait months.

Some wait years.

In August 2022, Navy arrived at UFAR after suffering abuse and living in fear. After more than a year and a half of healing, learning to trust, and receiving consistent care, Navy finally found a forever family in March 2024.

Lucy entered our care in April 2024 and continues to wait patiently for someone to choose her.

Until that day comes, we will continue choosing Lucy.

Every single day.

While nearly 4,000 dogs and cats have found loving homes through adoption, many others continue their journey with us for months or even years.

Some arrive as orphaned newborns requiring around-the-clock care.

Some arrive after surviving neglect, abandonment, abuse, or life on the streets.

Others are seniors, medically fragile animals, or pets who need additional time, patience, and healing before they are ready for a family.

As both a rescue and sanctuary, UFAR Animal Rescue & Ocala Sanctuary provides more than temporary shelter.

We provide safety.

We provide stability.

We provide medical care.

We provide hope.

Most importantly, we provide time.

Time to heal.

Time to trust.

Time to be seen.

Time to find the family they deserve.

And when that family takes longer to find, they remain safe, loved, and cared for with us.

This year, as Give Miami Day celebrates its quinceañera, we are reminded of what a quinceañera represents throughout Latin America and in many Miami families.

A quinceañera is more than a celebration.

It is a gathering of family, friends, community, generosity, hope, and love.

It is a moment when people come together to invest in someone's future.

For many families, a quinceañera is one of life's most meaningful milestones, made possible through the support of parents, relatives, friends, and an entire community.

Today, we invite our community to celebrate that same spirit in a different way.
