Mission
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to read. Not someday. Not if they can afford it. Right now.
Today, 68 percent of fourth graders in Miami-Dade County are not reading at a proficient level, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress. For students from low-income households, that number is even higher. Most will never receive the early, structured support they need to catch up.
The Lucy Project exists to change that.
We work at three levels. We serve individual students with personalized, expert reading instruction. We build systems by training teachers and supporting schools. We strengthen organizations by partnering with public districts and community programs to improve outcomes at scale.
We are not a one-size-fits-all program. We do not wait for permission. We meet children where they are. We help them read. We move them forward.
Every child we serve, every teacher we train, and every school we support brings Miami closer to a future where all children can read and thrive.
This is not about charity. It is about access. It is about justice. It is about doing what works.
That is why The Lucy Project exists. That is why your support matters.
