$400,000 Goal

Since 2013, TheDream.US has been supporting Dreamers in Miami to make their college and career dreams a reality. Accessing higher education has long been a financial challenge for Dreamers—first-generation immigrant youth who arrived in the United States as minors but are ineligible for federal financial aid and loans

With Miami Dade College being one of our founding Partner Colleges, TheDream.US has since awarded 900+ scholarships to-date in Miami. Today, we are proud to have over 400 Graduates from FIU, Miami Dade College, and Broward College who are working and contributing in our communities in key industries: Business, Health and Medicine, STEM, Public and Social Services, and Education.

However, earlier this year, a new law went into effect that repealed the decades' old in-state tuition access for Dreamers in Florida's public higher education institutions—a policy originally championed by then–State Representative and now FIU President Jeannette Núñez, and signed into law by Governor Rick Scott. Nearly 6,000 college students, including 500 of TheDream.US Scholars, were impacted this year alone and at risk of abandoning their education because tuition is now unaffordable.

This is personal for us. Our President and CEO, Gaby Pacheco, is from Miami. As a former Dreamer, who walked from Miami to Washington D.C. in 2010 in the historic Trail of Dreams, she's lived this journey. She knows what it means to dream big in South Florida—and to have your path threatened. We cannot let this setback define our future. And like Miami stepped up for her then, we believe Miami will step up for Dreamers now!

Currently, we are supporting 150 Miami Scholars to continue their college education at new private, independent, and online partner institutions. We are also welcoming ~40 incoming Miami-based Scholars to start their college journeys this Spring 2026. Our scholarship—$8,250 annual award plus a $1,500 annual stipend—helps ensure Dreamers continue to have the opportunity to access college and pursue career success.

Miami has always been a beacon of opportunity. We've always believed in the power of education to lift families and transform lives. We cannot let that light dim—not now.

This Give Miami Day, stand with us. Stand with Miami Dreamers.

Help us reach our goal of raising $400,000 to support our newest Miami cohort to access college. 100% of your gift will go towards scholarship and stipend support for our Spring 2026 Miami Scholars.
