Bring Music, Sustainability, and Inclusion to Miami-Dade
The world-renowned Cateura Recycled Orchestra brings its inclusive music program to Key Biscayne and communities across Miami-Dade, reaching schools, universities, cultural venues, and community spaces. Through interactive multicultural concerts and “Build Your Own Recycled Instrument” workshops, children explore music, STEM, and sustainability by creating instruments from recycled materials, experiencing the power of creativity and collaboration.
Operating under the Key Biscayne Community Foundation as a fiscal sponsorship, the orchestra can receive donations and grants that bring this transformative program to Miami-Dade while continuing to support the young musicians in Cateura. Your gift helps expand access to the arts, STEM, and sustainability education for children in Miami and empowers students in Paraguay to continue their life-changing music journey. This program reaches communities that might not otherwise have access to cultural and environmental education, fostering creativity, teamwork, confidence, and social inclusion. The orchestra has also performed interactive multicultural concerts on world-famous stages, including the Kennedy Center and the Honolulu Children’s Theater, as well as local Miami venues such as the University of Miami, Florida International University, and the Village of Key Biscayne.
Founded in 2012 by environmental engineer Favio in a marginalized community built around the largest landfill in Asunción, Paraguay, the Recycled Orchestra provides 350 students living in poverty with free music education using instruments made entirely from reclaimed materials, transforming their lives through music.
