The Miami Center for Racial Justice (miamicenterforracialjustice.org) is devoted to advancing racial education and preserving Florida’s often-overlooked Black history. Founded in 2020 in response to the George Floyd tragedy, our mission is to empower young Floridians to engage with the stories and truths long silenced.
Through our “Teach the Truth” tours, we take high school and college students to pivotal sites of racial violence, encouraging them to confront history and spark change. Preservation is key to our work; we protect sites and artifacts of African-American history, ensuring they remain accessible and revered. On dunnhistory.com, we document these histories, bringing untold stories to life.
We are also at the forefront of the fight against book bans in public schools, standing firm to keep vital stories about race, slavery, and African-American history accessible. Our banned book initiative ensures that Black and Brown students see themselves represented and educated with historical accuracy.
Together with supporters and community leaders, we strive for a Miami rooted in justice, where knowledge empowers, voices are amplified, and the past informs a future of equity and inclusivity.
Join us in championing a more just and honest society.
