Help Us Create an Inspiring Space Where Young Artists Can Dream, Create, and Shine!

Together, we can give our young artists the tools and space they need to bring their creativity to life.

At TAPA — the Talented Art Parents Association — we believe that creativity deserves a place to grow. Every day, more than 150 talented young artists in Southwood Middle School’s Art Magnet program walk into their classrooms ready to imagine, explore, and bring their ideas to life. Our mission is to ensure they have the resources, experiences, and environment they need to thrive.

As a volunteer-run booster club, TAPA works alongside our teachers and school community to enhance the educational experience of our students. While public school funding provides the foundation for arts education, it does not always cover the additional opportunities and resources that allow a program like ours to truly flourish.

Through the generosity of our supporters, TAPA helps bridge that gap by funding experiences and resources that directly impact students — including museum and gallery visits, classroom supplies, exhibition materials, student recognition awards, and other enrichment opportunities that inspire creativity and growth.

For three years, our Give Miami Day supporters have helped us turn ideas into opportunities for our students. Through their generosity, we have been able to turn meaningful ideas into lasting opportunities for our students.

During our first year participating, we were able to help create Southwood Middle School’s first-ever Digital Arts Studio, bringing new technology and creative tools into the hands of our student artists. Last year, the generosity of our donors helped support educational field trips and experiences that allowed students to explore art beyond the classroom.

This year, we are focusing on creating a more comfortable and inspiring Art classroom environment. Our goal is to purchase new stools and chairs that will provide students with a functional, welcoming space where they can focus, collaborate, and continue developing their artistic skills.

Mission

At TAPA (The Art Parent Association), our mission is to support and inspire every student in Southwood Middle School’s Art Magnet program by providing the resources, opportunities, and experiences that allow young artists to grow, explore, and reach their full potential.

We are committed to:

Equity – Creating opportunities for all students, ensuring that every young artist has access to the tools, experiences, and support they need to fully participate and thrive.

Enrichment – Expanding learning beyond the classroom through meaningful experiences such as museum visits, guest artist workshops, exhibitions, and special programs that encourage creativity, confidence, and artistic expression.

Innovation & Advancement – Supporting the continued growth of the Art Magnet program by providing both essential traditional art materials and innovative digital tools that allow students to explore new techniques, ideas, and creative possibilities.
