TAPA — the Talented Art Parents Association — is the dedicated, volunteer-run booster club for the Art Magnet program at Southwood Middle School in Miami. Our mission is to support and celebrate the incredible talent, effort, and growth of over 150 young artists who are part of this extraordinary program each year.
As public school budgets continue to fall short of covering the full needs of arts education, TAPA steps in to bridge the gap. We raise funds that directly benefit students through field trips to museums and galleries, high-quality classroom supplies, exhibition materials, awards for student recognition, and other program enrichment activities that are often out of reach without community support.
Thanks to last year’s Give Miami Day campaign, we achieved a major milestone — the creation of the school’s first-ever digital arts studio, complete with iPads, desktop computers, and design equipment to bring 21st-century tools into the hands of middle school artists.
This year, we are focused on sustaining and expanding the overall program: supporting field trips, classroom materials, award ceremonies, and essential software licensing costs to ensure students have the tools they need to create, learn, and shine.
TAPA exists because we believe in the power of the arts — and because we believe in these kids. Your support fuels their creativity, confidence, and sense of possibility.
