Empowering Miami-Dade County’s Pre-K3 Through 12th Grade Students to Thrive with Customized Education

Step Up For Students is committed to empowering families across Miami-Dade County by helping students access an education customized to their individual needs. Through scholarships and educational resources, families have greater freedom to choose the learning environments, programs, and services that help their children reach their full potential.

Since our inception in 2010, Step Up For Students has awarded more than 2 million scholarships across Florida, including more than 270,000 scholarships supporting students right here in Miami-Dade County.

Today, our impact in Miami-Dade extends far beyond scholarships. We partner with more than 1,560 local education providers, including private, micro and hybrid schools, therapists, homeschool programs, extracurricular organizations, and other educational service providers. These partnerships give families access to a diverse network of educational opportunities while also reinvesting millions of dollars into Miami-Dade businesses, organizations, and communities.

We call this customized education, and it is at the heart of our mission. For one student, that may mean attending a school that better matches their learning style. For another, it may mean receiving tutoring in reading or math, accessing specialized services for unique abilities, participating in an extracurricular program, or obtaining educational materials that help them thrive.

Our work is made possible by a community that continues to step up for students. Through tax programs, individual donations, workplace giving, planned giving, community partnerships, and other forms of support, individuals and organizations can help create opportunities for Miami-Dade students and beyond.

Together, we are not only expanding educational opportunities. We are investing in Miami-Dade’s students, strengthening local families, supporting local providers, and helping build a stronger future for the entire community.
