I recently turned 17 years old and am in my senior year of highschool. I started this nonprofit at 13 when I was genetically diagnosed with a rare disease called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. EDS is a connective tissue disorder and there is no cure or actual treatment.
I started this non-profit organization to help kids cope with stressful and scary disorders. The first project I started was donating zebras to kids diagnosed with EDS or other connective tissue disorders. I have also created support groups for these children and their parents. I do not want anyone to feel the way I did going through the diagnosis process. I have since gone on to help kids in infusion centers, kids battling cancer, arthritis, diabetes, autism, and many other childhood disorders and diseases. I have worked closely with the community and my school to raise awareness and funds for medical research and support for kids going through tough medical times. Mission
I promise, I will do my best to make sure that a child going through tough medical times does not feel like they are going through these times alone. I started this non-profit working with other kids that share some of my diagnosis. As my charity has grown my range of children I help has also expanded. I am developing support groups, creating care packages (to be given at doctor office, when diagnosed with disorders), helping supply medical equipment to deserving children, sensory bags for childhood anxiety and sensory needs, support packages for hospitalized children, infusion center gift bags, funding for connective tissue disorder research, and first responder emergency awareness for life threatening connective tissue disorder situations. I will continue to expand the organization to help children get through some of the most difficult times of their lives as they cope with complicated medical challenges.
