Since 2007, Samantha’s Purpose has been dedicated to inclusion, advocacy, and awareness for children and adults living with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities.

Founded by her parents, Jose “Manny” Garcia and Michelle Coffey-Garcia, in honor of their daughter Samantha — who lives with Cerebral Palsy — this nonprofit began with a promise: that her diagnosis would have purpose.

We’re proud to be the first organization in Miami-Dade County to host an annual event every March recognizing National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month and Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day (March 25th) through our Run, Walk & Stroll 2K for Cerebral Palsy Awareness.

Our mission is to uplift and empower families by providing grants, scholarships, and direct assistance for therapy, special needs equipment, personal care items, school and camp tuition, and inclusive programs that improve quality of life. We also guide families in navigating services and support available to their children — because no one should have to walk this path alone.

We’re not just a nonprofit — we’re a promise in motion. A promise to lead with inclusion, to meet families where they are, and to make our community more compassionate, accessible, and supportive for all.

Although our mission began with special needs advocacy, it has grown. Now 20 years old, Samantha remains the heart and soul of this organization. While she cannot speak or make decisions herself, our Board considers every action through one question:“What would Samantha want to do to help others, if she could speak for herself?”

At Samantha’s Purpose, inclusion isn’t just a value — it’s a promise. One that started with our daughter and now reaches countless children and families across Miami-Dade County.
