For over 110 years, The Salvation Army has been serving in Miami and provides vital health and human service needs for Miami-Dade County and Monroe County. With five locations throughout Miami-Dade County, our social service programs focus on serving those impoverished of material goods, opportunity, and hope through varying programs for adults and children.

With inflation at an all-time high, we have continued to see a significant rise in the number of people seeking assistance in the Miami-Dade. In 2023, we have served almost 800,000 meals in Miami-Dade County, continued providing housing and emergency shelter for men, women, children, and veterans, and provided food assistance to shelter residents and our communities.

This past July, the summer music program served over 93 kids, we had over 708 students sign up for school supply assistance, and we continue to provide access to healthcare in our on-site health resource center. Providing on-site healthcare decreases the number of clients visits to the emergency room. As one of the only social services providers present in every zip code in the U.S.A., The Salvation Army is uniquely positioned to help in every area of need. Clients living in the shelter and those on the cusp of homelessness can participate in the Pathway of Hope program. This program helps clients by assessing their needs and prioritizing them to begin the journey to independence. Case Managers work with clients to set goals, help them obtain their goals and provide resources for affordable housing. Working with the entire family in the Pathway of Hope program gets all family members involved and moving in a positive and healthy manner with the result being independence and living on their own and break the cycle of generational poverty.
