Bitsy, an emaciated and terrified miniature horse; Woody, Amigo, and Gulliver, the half-starved horses found living in a horse trailer; Tiny Tim, the miniature horse found with a mangled rear leg; and Mud Muffin, cruelly dumped, emaciated and barely able to stand — they all have one thing in common: you made their second chance possible.

For 33 years, the South Florida SPCA has been the only organization in Miami-Dade County dedicated to rescuing horses, farm animals, and other animals abandoned in fields, dumped in the Everglades, or left to suffer in silence. We are more than a rescue — we are a lifeline and a community of compassionate people like you who refuse to look away.

Your gift today fuels our 24/7 partnership with the Miami-Dade Agricultural Police and Animal Services, allowing us to respond to emergency calls for horses, donkeys, cows, goats, fowl — and even the occasional llama or camel. Each rescue requires feed, veterinary care, transportation, and shelter — all made possible through your generosity.

In 2024 alone, we rescued 28 horses, 9 cows, 2 donkeys, 4 sheep, 3 pigs, and dozens of smaller animals—each one saved from neglect, abandonment, or cruelty.
Thanks to generous supporters like you, 17 horses, 2 cows, 32 mixed fowl, 2 pigs, and 2 sheep found safe, loving homes—and 6 horses, 8 cows, and 2 donkeys were joyfully reunited with their rightful owners. Every one of them was saved because people like you cared enough to act.
