South Florida After-School All-Stars, Inc.

SFASAS program provides free comprehensive after school programs 12 mos. a year to middle and high school students. Students receive tailored academic and enrichment programs by certified teachers that keep children safe and help them achieve success in school and life. Program deliverables include Academic Support/Enrichment; Social Skills/Youth Development; Physical/Mental Wellness; College Impact; and College Exploration.

SFASAS is the only non-profit organization who provides the following program deliverables to impoverished children and youth free of charge at a cost of $1.40/day with a 7% administrative overhead.

1. Academic Support and Enrichment through homework assistance, tutoring, STEM, literacy programs, English/Language Arts and Fine and Performing Arts instruction; and linkages to community resources as needed for immediate family supports.

2. Social Skills and Youth Development through mentoring, service learning, leadership, prevention-based activities; character education and career/college exploration.

3. Physical and Mental Wellness is accomplished through recreational activities, intramurals, sports, fitness, team building, health, wellness; dance, gardening, and healthy cooking.

4. College Impact assists students' transition from high school to college and include college and career exploration - to research, evaluate, discuss and decide options beyond high school graduation.

All programs/services are in support of the overarching goals of the organization to improve academic development and performance of "at risk" students; increase the number of secondary students eligible for scholarship, college readiness via participation and increased ACT/SAT scores and career interest post-secondary education compliance; increase the percentage of students/families who feel safe at school "beyond the bell"; and improve participation of students /family members to participate in safe and healthy activities.
