Rooted in History. Growing Together.
Redland has a proud history that dates back more than a century. Redland Farmlife School was created through the consolidation of several small neighborhood schools, including Princeton, Murray Hill, Silver Palm, Modello, Goulds, Eureka, and Redland. The school was officially dedicated on July 4, 1916, bringing together families from throughout the surrounding agricultural community.
In its early years, Redland served students from elementary through high school and included an agricultural program that reflected the farming community it served. Transportation looked very different from today—many students traveled to school in large, covered trailers pulled by tractors. Teachers not only educated students but also lived within the community and played an important role in supporting and protecting the school.
As South Dade continued to grow, Redland evolved along with the community. After South Dade High School opened in 1953, Redland transitioned to serving elementary and junior high students. In 1958, the schools separated, and students voted to begin a new chapter by changing their mascot from the Redland Rattlers to the Redland Royals, along with changing the school colors from orange and black to blue and gold. In 1983, Redland Junior High officially became Redland Middle School, serving students in grades 6–8.
More than 100 years later, Redland continues to be shaped by the students, families, educators, and community members who call it home.
💙💛 Help Our Royals Grow & Thrive
Our PTSA would like the fundraising campaign to focus broadly on supporting student enrichment, educational opportunities, school-community engagement, and programs that help our students thrive throughout the school year.
Rather than limiting the campaign to one specific project, we would like donations to help support PTSA-approved programs and initiatives that benefit our students and school community.
Every student deserves opportunities to learn, grow, achieve, and feel connected to their school community.
Through the support of our families, neighbors, and community partners, our PTSA works to provide additional resources, programs, and experiences that enrich the educational journey of our students.
Your support can help us:
-
Provide educational and literacy resources
-
Celebrate student achievement and academic growth
-
Support enrichment activities and student experiences-
Strengthen family and school-community engagement
-
Help provide resources that support the diverse needs of our students
-
Support PTSA-sponsored student programs and special activities
Every contribution, regardless of size, helps us continue creating meaningful opportunities for our students.
When families, educators, and our community work together, our students benefit.
Help us grow together and make this school year one to remember!
