Established in 1929 to Miami's first High School, Miami Senior High PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) is a volunteer-based organization that supports Miami Senior High School through fundraising, volunteering, and advocating for its students. It aims to improve the student experience and foster a stronger connection between the school and the community by closely working with parents, school administration and faculty to build a safe, supportive, inclusive, and welcoming school environment where all students can thrive and reach their full potential to be successful and lifelong learners. Back in 2020, our Miami Senior High PTSA unit was unfortunately closed as a result of the operational challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, in December of 2022, we reopened and slowly resumed PTSA activities in March of 2023. Since then we have been working together with the school to rebuild our collaboration and support to our shared mission of enabling our students to become independent thinkers, problem solvers, and productive citizens by ensuring they are presented with meaningful and challenging work. It is thanks to the support of our members and generous donors that our organization is able to fund student scholarships, teacher grants, school programs, support academic and extracurricular activities, and strengthen out ability to advocate for policies and funding that benefit all children at the local, state, and national levels. It is with great pride that our unit works hand in hand with Miami Senior High to continue its vital work of enhancing the educational experiences for today's students and teachers.
