Our Why

Our work addresses several key challenges within the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors in Miami:

1. Many nonprofit organizations in Miami struggle with limited resources to effectively carry out their missions.
2. The social impact sector often works in silos, which can lead to fragmented efforts and missed opportunities for greater impact.
3. Miami is a diverse community with significant disparities in access to resources and opportunities.

Ultimately, our goal is to empower nonprofits to achieve their full potential and for every person and organization in the nonprofit sector to find in PhilanthropyMiami a place where they can belong.

Our How

We view ourselves as the conveners and advocates of the nonprofit sector in Miami-Dade County. 

We offer workshops, seminars, and resources to equip nonprofits with the skills they need in areas like fundraising, leadership, governance, and financial management. 

Our annual conference IGNITE! is the premier nonprofit event of the year, bringing together diverse stakeholders to share ideas, forge relationships, and explore collaborative opportunities. 

In collaboration with the Nonprofit Executive Alliance, we support a network of over 150 nonprofit CEOs in Broward, Miami and the Keys working together to create a stronger, more resilient community.

Our Commitment to You

While we serve the entire sector, we are committed to making our programs accessible to smaller, community-based organizations. Though the support of our funders, we provide scholarships and free educational resources. 

This year alone we’ve offered over 60 scholarships to our conference and education programs such as our Deep Dive series at United Way Miami!

In the design, planning, and execution of all that we do, we will tap the rich diversity – in all its forms – of our local and national communities.

We deliver on our promise by infusing forward-looking innovation, excellence, creativity, and thought leadership into every program and service offering so that every person walks away confident that they received something of value.

Last, but certainly not least, our signature event Donor Next Door celebrates the beauty and impact of philanthropy and volunteerism in Miami, giving nonprofits throughout the community a chance to come together to honor their best donors and volunteers.
