As a 2020 Deutsche Bank report titled "America's Racial Gap & Big Tech's Closing Window" determined, if there isn't a big change in the next few years, 76% of Blacks and 62% of Hispanics won't have the skills needed for 86% of U.S. jobs in 2045.
In this country, Haitians represent a triple minority: Black, immigrant, and linguistically isolated, as the majority of Haitians speak Creole. So, historically, Haitians tend to fill the custodial and blue-collar positions created by economic development initiatives and the Haitian community has been left far behind when it comes to technological advances and opportunities. Every new job is technologically advanced and residents of the Haitian community just aren't ready to fully participate.
The Pierre Toussaint Leadership and Learning Center (PTLLC) Technology Lab is an absolute "must have" for the community. This is a MOVEMENT, not a moment, and being left behind just isn't an option. The Tech Lab is the only facility uniquely positioned to fill the knowledge, skills, and employability gaps and help the Haitian community share in the new growing economy.
By improving computer and technology literacy, increasing competence in office software and emerging technologies, promoting a higher level of employment and pursuing computer education in both business development and computer programming, the PTLLC will help Haitian Americans in Miami succeed together as a community. The Pierre Toussaint Leadership & Learning Center is working in direct partnership with Notre Dame D'Haiti, the largest Haitian institution in the Haitian American Diaspora. Located in the heart of Little Haiti, Miami's Haitian community, the church congregates over 5,000 people on any given Sunday and the Pierre Toussaint Leadership & Learning Center provides services to cover over 1,000 families daily.
