Founded in 2018, the Pinecrest City Music Project, Inc. (PCMP) is an El Sistema-inspired nonprofit organization that educates students to become holistic arts leaders, both in and outside of the classroom through its unique student-centric music education curriculum model.
With 502 students and over 35 staff, the organization operates, funds, and instructs public elementary, middle, and high school arts education programs across Miami-Dade, and has raised over $500,000 in government grants and monetary/in-kind donations since the program's inception. PCMP impacts over 8,000 Miamians through annual public access cultural arts initiatives including Music @ The Gardens and the South Dade Schools ArtsFest.
PCMP is the first-ever minor-led organization to execute competitive grant contracts with Miami-Dade County, the State of Florida, and the National Endowment for the Arts (subcontract), and is the only student-run organization to enter into an Affiliation Agreement with the School Board of Miami-Dade County.
Through its Equitable College Assistance Program (ECAP), PCMP covered costs for over 350 college application fees on behalf of its 2022 Staff Cohort - a $28,000 investment in Miami's future arts educators and advocates in aiming to eliminate inequities in the college admissions process.
