Why Samba?
Every year we serve samba to over 20,000 Miamians, on streets and stages with electrifying performances and joyous community celebrations. JOY IS OUR BIRTHRIGHT, AND 305 CULTURE NEEDS YOUR NURTURE.
We ignite Miami’s streets with the thunder of samba! Serving and Giving Back Joy to Miami’s citizens by breaking isolation, building belonging, and creating our own traditions of celebration and resilience.
Powered by the 305’s energy and inspired by Rio’s Carnaval, Miamibloco is the #1 largest community-made Rio samba percussion program in the USA (83+ drummers & growing). The city’s first samba school and community bloco, proudly dubbed "The Heartbeat of Miami."
Since 2017, anyone—no experience needed—can grab a professional drum, to learn the deep cultures behind the music, and represent Miami's pride, performing with world-class artists like Munir Hossn, Alfredo Rodriguez, the founders of Samba Reggae as a movement: bloco-afro Ilê Aiyê.
