Across Florida, LGBTQ+ visibility is under attack — from erased rainbow crosswalks to shrinking arts funding and rising political pressure. But OUTshine has one mission that has never changed: to make sure queer stories are seen, celebrated, and preserved.

For 27 years, OUTshine has brought bold, award-winning, boundary-pushing LGBTQ+ films to South Florida. We present two major 11-day festivals — in April and October — showcasing over 100 new and unreleased queer films each year. These are stories you can’t see on mainstream platforms, stories that affirm lives, honor identity, and bring our community together in dark theaters full of light.

This year, OUTshine expanded like never before — bringing the Fall & Spring Editions to both Miami and Fort Lauderdale, adding three extra days of films, panels, and parties.

Our monthly Cocktails & Cinema™ series keeps queer film alive year-round, creating space for connection, conversation, and community. Twice a month, one in each city.

And for those who can’t join in person, OUTshine At-Home™ continues to deliver meaningful LGBTQ+ cinema virtually — protecting access for all across Florida for the 7 days after each festival edition.

State-level cuts to cultural funding have hit hard. OUTshine lost nearly $100,000 in grants — money that directly supports filmmakers, venues, programming, community outreach, and access.
