Love N light Furever

Love N Light Furever is a Miami-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue founded in 2020 by Maria Torres during the height of the pandemic. What began with feeding community cats and helping injured strays has grown into a mission that now helps an average of 600–800 animals every year through rescue, medical care, adoptions, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), community colony feeding, and transportation.

It All Started With One Cat

The inspiration behind Love N Light Furever was Edgar, a stray cat Maria met on the streets of Little Haiti. Edgar had a severely injured ear and desperately needed medical attention, but he also had an unforgettable personality. His journey through multiple surgeries and a battle with cancer captured the hearts of Hundreds of thousands of people online. More importantly, Edgar showed us just how much can change when someone decides that one animal's life is worth fighting for. That belief became the foundation of Love N Light Furever.

Our Impact

Today, we help an average of 600–800 animals every year. We rescue abandoned and injured animals, provide veterinary and emergency medical care, find loving homes through adoption, conduct TNR, feed community cat colonies, and help transport animals to safety. Although cats are at the heart of our mission, when an animal is suffering and we have the ability to help, we do our best to answer the call.                 Over the years, that has included dogs, birds, opossums, reptiles, and other animals in need. We have been able to accomplish all of this without having a permanent sanctuary of our own.

Our Next Chapter: A Sanctuary

Now we're ready to take the next step.

Our goal is to purchase a property in South Florida that can become a permanent sanctuary for the animals who need us most. Having our own sanctuary would give us the space and stability to help even more animals, provide a permanent home for cats who may never be adoptable, care for special-needs and FIV-positive cats, and expand the lifesaving work we're already doing throughout our community. We're already helping 600–800 animals every year without a permanent sanctuary. Imagine how many more we could help if we finally had a place to call home.

Right now, the number of animals we can help is limited by the space and resources available to us. A sanctuary would change that.
