With so many asking for your financial gift this GIVE Miami Day, we wanted to highlight why we, at Light Up Learning (LUL), might be one of your choices to support. We hope you find what we did long ago, that given love, hope, and the right intervention, students break through limiting labels and shine in much more than their grades!

L.U.L. found its name and inspiration in the life of its founder, Jessica Castillo.

In 2005, one of Mrs. Castillo’s daughters was diagnosed with multiple learning disabilities, and she quickly became overwhelmed with the difficulties facing her. The light of hope that is seen so clearly in the eyes of a child, was slowly being extinguished from her daughter’s with each challenge. Every aspect of their lives was impacted – school, home, social and spiritual.

An educator, Jessica was compelled to find a solution that was effective, permanent and affordable. She found N.I.L.D. later that year, enrolled her daughter in an educational therapy program, and became a therapist herself. Due in large part to the incredible intervention of NILD Educational Therapy (and her therapist), her daughter’s all lit up again, and more confident than ever! Since then, Jessica and the team have helped many students “light up” and discover that they are wonderfully made, and ready for a future filled with hope.

Inspiring learners with the knowledge that they are more than what their grades represent. Learners who struggle need to know that they have an intrinsic value in themselves – they can grow competence over their lifetime, but should always be confident in who they are!

This value and distinctive quality stems from our “core belief” that each individual is created by God, special and with purpose. As such, we feel that there are no limitations to what is possible. Each student can reach, and even exceed, their believed potential. Acknowledging this truth, we provide programs that aim at life-change and inspire a life-long love of learning.

This does NOT mean that we only work with individuals of one faith, or compel others to believe a particular one. Rather, this means that no matter what your personal beliefs may be, ours suggest that we can expect great gains to be made and goals reached!

Light Up Learning (L.U.L.) is an educational 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that exists to provide exceptional, appropriate and accessible education therapies for struggling learners of all ages throughout South Florida, first, and then to surrounding areas.
