Your Contribution

Your donation will help fund our CyberHoops summer program that teaches Miami-Dade middle and high school students cybersecurity skills, through an innovative basketball  curriculum. For the past three years, the CyberHoops program has been funded by a federal grant (GenCyber/National Security Agency/National Science Foundation). This year, the grant was frozen by the government and we are in need of funding to continue the camp for summer 2026.  Visit our Instagram page to view videos and images of our camps!

About Us

Innovation Tech Academy (ITA) is a non-for-profit organization dedicated to education through technology, focusing on the area of cybersecurity. Our main educational program is CyberHoops, funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Security Agency through a GenCyber grant, which provides cybersecurity experiences to middle and high-school students in South Florida through an innovative basketball curriculum during the summer.

The first CyberHoops camp took place in the Summer of 2023 with 20 students at a school in Miami-Dade. By the summer of 2024 it had grown to 90 students at three Miami Dade County Public Schools and in the summer of 2025 we became a subawardee through a coalition model created by Florida International University, where we hosted a middle school and a high school camp at two schools from MDCPS. We have also partnered up with MDCPS for the past three years through an annual Affiliating Agreement. Funds obtained through Give Miami Day would allow ITA to continue providing CyberHoops summer programs.

Each student at the CyberHoops camp received a Caesar Cipher Decoder medallion to learn about the basics of encryption and cyber defense.

Why Donate?

  • Cybersecurity education is necessary since we live in a digital society and online safety should be a priority.

  • Increase minority representation in the workforce since presently only 4% Hispanic, 9% African-American and 24% Women.

  • Cybersecurity education can be life changing since professional jobs are the fastest growing career field with an average of 31% growth until 2029 and an average starting salary between $90,000.00 to $160,000.00.
