IlluminArts
Music and art in unison. Concerts in a new light.
IlluminArts was founded in August 2013 to present world class performances of classical music to Miami's vibrant audiences, understanding the community's desire to experience traditional artistic forms in innovative and exciting ways. Following a growing desire in our programming to highlight social issues, we recognize the power of the arts to inspire thought, dialogue, and action by exposing audiences to performances that not only entertain, but also engage. IlluminArts is unique in its ability to make classical music accessible to audiences that would otherwise not be able to attend musical performances by removing geographical and cost restrictions. Our performances are mostly free, or by donation, and happen in various locations in Miami. Our overwhelming goal is to make performances of Art Song and Vocal Chamber music relevant and accessible to people who may not have considered it before.
IlluminArts has received grants from Miami Dade County, Knight Foundation, Funding Arts Network, Awesome Foundation, City of Coral Gables, Miami Salon Group and New Music USA to support our work. IlluminArts has collaborated with organizations such as the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), de la Cruz Collection, Lowe Art Museum, MDC Museum of Art + Design, Bass Museum of Art, Bakehouse Art Complex, Vizcaya, Oolite Arts and the Miami Center for Architecture and Design, among others.
IlluminArts has presented internationally acclaimed musicians, exposing Miami's audiences to the very best interpreters of Art Song and Vocal Chamber Music. An important aspect of our programming also focuses around the performance of contemporary music, highlighting celebrated living composers such as John Musto, Paola Prestini and David Lang to name a few.
