The Gold Coast Railroad Museum preserves and shares South Florida’s railroad heritage through authentic experiences, engaging education, and community connection. More than a museum, GCRM is a cultural landmark where history comes alive — a place where families, students, and visitors can step aboard and experience the railroads that built Miami.

Founded in 1957 on the historic grounds of Naval Air Station Richmond, once the second-largest WWII blimp base in the nation, the Museum houses over 40 historic railcars including Presidential Railcar Ferdinand Magellan and Florida East Coast Steam Locomotive No. 153. Today, it stands as one of Florida’s three official state railroad museums.

Across its 50-acre campus, GCRM offers train rides, hands-on exhibits, and the largest public model railroad display in the state. Through partnerships with local schools and organizations, the Museum delivers field trips, lectures, and community events that connect past and present.

The Museum’s work extends beyond preservation — it’s about participation. Every ride, restoration, and program helps inspire curiosity, pride, and discovery in future generations. With your support this Give Miami Day, we’re keeping history on track and ensuring Miami’s railroad legacy continues to move forward.
