Fresh Start of Miami Dade Inc

A nonprofit organization

Fresh Start of Miami-Dade, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operates on a three-

tiered approach to support adults with mental health challenges in their personal growth

and recovery journey. The first tier is the Drop-In Center Program, an adult day program

that helps individuals achieve self-sufficiency in a nurturing environment.

The second tier is the Alliance for Change and Empowerment, where training and

workforce development opportunities are provided to combat stigma and promote

education and awareness about mental health.   This is a place where peers and others in this program work towards

certification, equipping them for job opportunities.

The third tier, known as "Peers on the Move," consists of Certified Recovery Specialists

who offer support in various settings, including state hospitals, virtual meetings (Zoom),

or in individuals' homes after leaving the state hospital. This support aids in community

reintegration and personal growth.

Fresh Start of Miami-Dade has been serving the community for over 20 years, focusing

on reducing stigma and promoting mental health awareness. The organization aims to

make mental health a topic that can be openly discussed and seeks support to expand

its program, provide digital literacy resources, and acquire a dedicated building for their

work.
