Florida Student Power Alliance

A nonprofit organization

Florida Student Power is a youth-led organization under the fiscal sponsorship of Florida Rising Together. We are building power for Black and Brown communities in Miami-Dade County.

We believe young people are not just the future — they are the present, and they should lead

the movements and decisions that shape their lives.

In Miami-Dade, we are actively organizing to shift power into the hands of young people. We train youth to lead civic engagement efforts, build political education spaces, and organize campaigns around the issues that matter most to our communities. From City Hall to the school board, we make sure youth voices are heard and respected in every political space.

Right now, our members are part of a civic engagement and membership program that uplifts youth of color and those with marginalized identities. Through this work, youth organizers are learning how the legislative process works, how to engage voters across school board, primary, and presidential elections, and how to recruit others into the movement. We focus on building a sustainable base of young leaders who are equipped with the tools to make real change.

Our Youth Power Model guides everything we do. Young people across Miami-Dade come together in Power Pods, regional teams where they organize, build relationships, and make collective decisions about how to move their communities forward.

Power University, our political education hub, offers trainings on the fundamentals of organizing. These trainings explore the difference between issue-based community organizing and electoral organizing, helping youth understand how both strategies build power. Power University partners with local organizations and schools across Miami-Dade to host in-person and virtual workshops, ensuring youth have access to the knowledge they need to lead.

Our campaigns focus on three major issues affecting our communities: education justice, migrant justice, and climate justice. In Miami-Dade, this looks like organizing around public school policies, standing with immigrant communities facing displacement and criminalization, and fighting for environmental protections in frontline neighborhoods.

Youth are not just supporting this work — they are leading it. From the legislative session to every stage of the election cycle, youth organizers are driving our Civic Engagement Program. We center down-ballot races, knowing that local offices have some of the biggest impacts on our daily lives.
