The Wall Street Journal has ranked FIU as the No. 1 university in Florida for the second year in a row, and Washington Monthly ranked FIU as the No. 8 university in the country.

Additionally, FIU is ranked No.1 among all national universities in social mobility, according to the U.S. News & World Report, and is a Carnegie-designated R1 research university for Very High Research Activity. Our university advances research to address critical challenges in environmental resilience, health, engineering, technology, and innovation. FIU is ranked among the top 20 public universities in the nation for the number of U.S. utility patents granted and has $306 million in research expenditures (FY 2023-2024).
