FillABag was founded after winning The Miami Foundation Public Space Challenge in 2018 by Key Biscayne residents Manny Rionda, Nancy Levitt Davis and James Duncan.
What began as a simple idea - install posts with reusable buckets at beach paths, inviting folks to turn an ordinary stroll into a meaningful clean up - has evolved into much more! In less than 6 years, thanks to a comprehensive, guided, & scalable "Do It Yourself" solution, there are now 80 FillABag Stations in 7 states, and two foreign countries, including over 20 in the Miami area.
Besides activating FillABag Stations around the world, FillABag has:
* Lead over 150 Group Cleanup Events
* Removed over 23,000 lbs. of debris from our shorelines and neighborhoods
* Engaged over 4,100 volunteers ages 4-74
* Implemented a high school internship program
* Delivered hands-on workshops for K-12 schools
* Hosted team building engagements
* Spearheaded community activism
* Collaborated with dozens of like-minded organizations regionally, nationally, & globally.
Mission
FillABag works with coastal communities to bring awareness to the problems of marine debris, beach litter, single use plastic consumption & pollution by providing opportunities for communities to participate in eco-activism.
