$35,000 Goal

Launched in September 2014, EXILE Books traversed Miami as a pop-up artist's bookstore for four years, establishing residency at over 25 locations. Conceived by visual artist and curator Amanda Keeley, EXILE is an experimental project activating public spaces to promote inclusive community participation with printed matter. EXILE is collaborative, based on forming partnerships between arts and cultural organizations while providing a generative platform for artists and small presses to promote their print projects. Under the EXILE imprint, we have printed over 50+ books by artists and have reached an audience engagement rate of 82,000 and counting!

Your support will contribute to programs such as:

-Supporting local artists through our ongoing publication program which offers design, printing, and distribution services along with an honorarium for the artist.

-The Yummy Zine Fair at the Underline. We celebrate publications made by artists about food and nutrition, self-care, ecology, and our overall health accompanied by a variety of related vendors.

-SIDE x SIDE is a children's pen pal "mail art" program pairing youth at summer camps in Little Haiti, Opa Locka, and Liberty City. At the end of the program, participants get to meet up IRL at an outdoor pizza party!

-Zine Machines are vintage retrofitted newspaper vending machines placed in six locations throughout Miami Dade distributing newspaper publications designed by local artists.

-EXILE Book Cart x Books & Books offers a wide variety of books and zines by local artists, with an accompanying talks program.

Our goal is to provide an inclusive way to experience art, to encourage and inspire young people, to be financially supportive of our local artists, and continue to serve as a platform for community building through print culture. Thank you for your support!

Mission

EXILE Books is a Miami-based printing initiative, dedicated to promoting and producing artists' books through the process of collaboration and exchange. For each of our projects, we seek to build networks of relationships and provide free thematic programming and educational events such as workshops, lectures, exhibitions, performances, and fairs in order to advance public engagement with artists' publications. Headquartered in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood, EXILE strives to establish a pervasive print culture in Miami by creating hubs for independent publishing that represent and serve our diverse community.
