Educational Leadership Institute, Inc. (ELI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening, supporting, and empowering young children, their families, and educators in underserved communities through high-quality educational programs that foster leadership, well-being, and lifelong growth. Our services are provided in Miami-Dade county, Opa Locka, Hialeah, Allapattah, and other communities.

We believe all children can thrive when their challenges are met with compassion, opportunity, and support. Literacy is the foundation of all our programs. We build language, vocabulary, communication, and early literacy skills through innovative experiences that combine stories, music, movement, arts, hands-on learning, and wellness. 

Our goal is to be part of the solution addressing Florida's challenges, where only 44% of our incoming kindergartners are currently  ready for school.

 Children Giving Children Initiative

Through our Children Giving Children Initiative, ELI brings literacy, creativity, wellness, and connection to children facing significant challenges, including children experiencing extended hospital stays.

Our Moving with a Purpose program: Superhero Explorers Take on the World series has successfully served children at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Holtz Children's Hospital for three years. Children in oncology, organ transplant, and outpatient dialysis settings participate in engaging one-on-one, small and large-group experiences that bring learning and creativity directly to them.

Through stories, art, music, STEM, movement, and imaginative play, and wellness activities, children explore new topics, expand vocabulary, express themselves creatively, and experience moments of joy and connection during difficult times.

Art is an important part of our approach, giving children another way to communicate, create, and express themselves. Through our Leadership Mentoring Program, youth volunteers are also guided in supporting creative activities, developing compassion, confidence, and leadership skills.

ELI protects the privacy and dignity of the children we serve. Photos shared highlight children's artwork, hands-on projects, and program activities without showing identifiable faces for our hospitalized children.

Building a Kinder, Smarter, and Stronger Community

Our Kindness Ambassador Program empowers children and youth to lead with kindness, empathy, and inclusion. Through literacy, art, and creative projects, students (Prek through High School) learn about acts of Kindness and give a Gift of Hope by creating messages and inspirational canvas for hospitalized children facing challenges, learning that their words and actions can make a difference.

Through Empowering Teaching Leaders, ELI provides early childhood educators with literacy-based professional development, coaching, and mentoring to strengthen language-rich and inclusive classrooms.

Our Stronger Together Family Series helps families with children birth through age five build language, literacy, connection, and emotional wellness through stories, music, creative activities, and practical strategies for learning at home.

One Foundation Connects It All: Literacy

Across every ELI program, literacy is the foundation—not an isolated activity. We use music and the arts as powerful ways for children to learn, communicate, express emotions, expand vocabulary, and build confidence while supporting the whole child.

How Your Support Helps

Your Give Miami Day donation helps us bring meaningful educational and wellness experiences to children, families, and educators.

$75 – provides a one-on-one coaching and modeling session for an early childhood teacher in her classroom.

$250 – Provides a Superhero Essentials Kit for a hospitalized child, filled with educational, literacy, -based, creative, and comforting materials.

$120 – Supports a Moving with a Purpose session featuring creative play, arts, literacy, wellness, and STEAM exploration.

$1,000 – Supports two full days of Moving with a Purpose programming in a children's hospital.

$2,500 – Supports our Stronger Together Family Series, providing five family workshop sessions for 15 families.

$3,500 – Provides significant support for the Superhero Explorers Take on the World series, helping hospitalized children access meaningful literacy, arts, and wellness experiences during long-term stays.

$5,000 – Supports a literacy-based professional development series that provides coaching and workshops for five early childhood educators, extending the impact to hundreds of children.
