Dimensions Variable (DV) is a nonprofit contemporary art gallery led by a team of artists. We're nonprofit because new art must be supported through many different means for it to continue to challenge us. We believe in the power of art to influence change and often ask these questions: How many art organizations are founded and led by artists? How do we think differently about building a new future? How do we initiate change if we continue to follow the same set of ideas?
We address these questions with the founding of our nonprofit almost 13 years ago. Our founders and team are dedicated artists who think we should form new organizations with different leadership criteria. We are advocates for the commission and production of challenging contemporary art. We promote the collaboration and leadership of artists and we do this because profound change requires new institutional models.
We approach our work from the perspective of artists. Help us continue to build a new organization with new ideas about leadership, new ideas about contemporary art, and new ideas on how to collaborate.

Through an active program, we fund artist development, curate innovative exhibitions, collaborate on projects, publish written content, host engaging discussions, provide spaces to work, promote art acquisition, organize events, and advocate for artists to encourage a more equitable and interconnected art world. Dimensions Variable is a point of convergence for new ideas, advocacy, and a diverse audience.
