Formally registered in 2019, The Bright Foundation, originally known as Hispafest, the Hispanic-American Art and Culture Festival, reclaimed its legal name as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its mission is to promote art and culture in the region, helping emerging and mid-career artists, primarily those based in Miami and mostly immigrants, to continue their careers and integrate into the region's artistic network. Additionally, it seeks to unite our multicultural community through the common language of art.
While The Bright Foundation inclusively promotes the culture of all the countries that coexist here, the Hispanic-American Art and Culture Festival "Hispafest" has stood out for its activities that exclusively promote Hispanic art and culture, as well as Hispanic-American artists. One example of this is Hispanic Heritage Month, during which various exhibitions are held annually in September and October to celebrate this occasion.
The foundation was established by Nubia Abaji, a Venezuelan immigrant who is deeply aware of the challenges of integrating into a new country and the mutual support needed to accelerate this process in a new reality. In 2018, during her participation in an entrepreneurship program developed by Cisneros Media, the Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce, with academic support from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA), and later with the Impact Miami program at the Idea Center of Miami Dade College, this philanthropist and art lover, with more than 25 years of experience in event organization, focused on uniting the community through art and awakening a sense of belonging to this great country that has opened its doors to us all. By bringing together a group of artists and curators with the idea of finding exhibition spaces, she set out to offer artists the opportunity to exhibit their work, receive the necessary institutional support to continue growing in their careers and connect with the various communities that reside here.
Annually, The Bright Foundation organizes different activities, allowing more than 100 artists to exhibit their work throughout the year. Some of the already-established exhibitions include:
1) Emerging Art Show – February
2) International Women’s Day – March
3) Ping Pong Basel – Switzerland - Junio
4) Crossing Cultures and Cities – New York and Miami - Julio
5) "Hispafest" The Hispanic American Art and Culture Festival– September and October
6) Give Miami Day and 5k Festival - November
7) Miami Art Week – November and December
8) The Wall of Bright - throughout the year
Your valuable help is the oxygen we need to continue developing our activities for the benefit of the entire community. You are contributing to the operating expenses for the end of 2025 and January 2026, during which all the activities for 2026 will be planned.
