The Boy Scouts of America, South Florida Council was founded in 1911 and has mentored over one million youth in our community. Our program is truly a family-oriented initiative, welcoming both boys and girls ages 5 to 20 to participate in any of our seven programs. Currently, we serve more than 25,000 youth across these diverse offerings.
Our programs include:
- **Cub Scouting** (for elementary school youth)
- **Scouts BSA** (for middle and high school youth)
- **Venturing** (high adventure experiences)
- **Sea Scouts** (ocean adventures for middle & high school youth)
- **Exploring** (hands-on career educational experiences for high school students)
- **Learning for Life** (a school-based character education program)
- **Scutreach Initiatives** (focusing on urban and rural scouting)
Our Scoutreach Initiatives program places a special emphasis on providing leadership within urban and rural scouting. We are committed to ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.
Today’s youth face numerous challenges, including rising violence in schools, increased substance abuse, and deteriorating neighborhoods. Our Outreach Initiatives program addresses the developmental needs of youth in areas such as Overtown, Opa-Locka, Miami, Liberty City, Miami Gardens, and Homestead.
Scouting emphasizes ethics and moral values, addressing many social concerns faced by parents and youth across the country. We prepare urban and rural youth to become leaders, embrace responsibility, and care for principles and causes beyond their self-interest. Our Outreach Initiatives program is structured around clear values, learning through action, enjoyment, and positive role models.
