Ahzin started Ketáb in 2019 because she believes that every child has the pursuit of higher education. Since 2019, Ketab has provided students in Miami with free and affordable college application services that include FAFSA assistance, scholarship searches, and personal statement editing. We have worked out of public libraries, media centers, and online to ensure that we are accessible to the students that we seek to serve.  We also provide our students with dorm supplies as they embark on their first year of college through our commitment to sustainability.

For the first year, we provided services in Miami Dade public schools, but once COVID hit, we had to shift gears and adapt to the new pandemic world. For 2020 and most of 2021, Ketab was completely virtual. We recruited students through student ambassadors that attended local high schools, and we met with students through Zoom. In 2022, we were lucky to have transitioned from exclusively virtual services to our local public libraries where we currently serve students. But heading into 2024, we seek to find a permanent home in Miami. We would like to have a central location where students can walk-in to receive their Ketab help, and we are asking for your help to make this happen.

You can see from the photos that Ketab is a service, but not a place. We provide services out of parking lots, public schools, libraries, pop-up events, and even storage units for our dorm supply drive, but we don't just want to be a service, we want to be a place! In 2024, we want Ketab to be a safe space for young minds to grow and better their future. We want to foster Miami's intellectual hub, and promote educational among our students this year, so in the coming years, they will continue to build a better Miami for us all.

Any donation helps! Nothing is too big or small, and we are grateful for all of your kind donations, and thank you for believing in us.

Our mission is to bridge educational disparities in Miami-Dade one student at a time. Every student has a right to higher education, economic mobility, and a quality life. This is why we help students get into college and enhance their life trajectories through higher education.
