Arts Accelerator has grown from a two-day filmmaking workshop in 2018 into a creative community serving more than 2,000+ creatives annually across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

Here's what impact looks like annually:

• 12 months of programming in Dade and Broward County totaling 30+ events including Screenwriting and Directing Masterclasses, monthly Writers Rooms, and Casting and Networking events.
• 350+ attendees at 4 Live Script Readings
• 800+ attendees at the Florida FilmmakerShowcase and 48 Hour Film Project Film Festivals
• 32 Teams of Filmmakers making 32 short films 
• 6 films and filmmakers receiving distribution through the Florida Filmmaker Showcase Feature Film Anthology 
• 20 actors signed to talent agencies.
• 4 Production Crew Members on multimillion dollar sets for Apple TV show MIA and Netflix RJ Decker.
• Cast 10 actors as background talent on Apple TV Show MIA and other local paid and unpaid productions.
• Workshops, panels and masterclasses on how to monetize content.

Behind every number is a filmmaker gaining experience, making connections, and taking another step toward a professional career.

From First Opportunity to the Big Screen

In 2018, ten creatives-including people with no previous film experience-came together for our first Screenwriting and Filmmaking Masterclass. In just 2 days, they wrote and produced 2 short films, Theft and God's Plan. Both were later selected by the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival as "Official Selections" opening opportunities for anyone who worked on the film to apply for the Emerging Filmmaker Grant and others. 

That experience helped inspire the creation of Arts Accelerator, officially established as a nonprofit on Oct. 31, 2018.

Today, we continue building on that vision: helping creatives move from learning and collaboration to completed projects, festival exposure, industry relationships, and opportunities to earn income from their work.
