1.5 million people in South Florida have high blood pressure- enough to fill Hard Rock Stadium 23 times. Most do not even know they have it or know that heart disease is the leading cause of death nationally and having high blood pressure is a significant risk factor.  

The American Heart Association (AHA) has been fighting heart disease and stroke to help families and communities thrive for 100 years. We're committed to protecting the hearts you love and saving lives in South Florida and globally.  

Last year, the AHA Greater Miami/Fort Lauderdale market celebrated our first 100 years of impact and stepped boldly into our second century with achievements like:

• Implementing a Blood Pressure Treatment Algorithm at our three National Hypertension Control Initiative (NHCI) Health Centers, enabling systematic treatment for 9,260 patients with hypertension.
• Leading a health-equity action plan across Miami-Dade to address nutrition security sustainably through the Food & Nutrition for All collaborative, endorsed by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava and other key community leaders.
• Expanding Hands-Only CPR and AED training: Our Mobile CPR Kiosk visited three locations, including LoanDepot Park during the Caribbean Series, and trained over 3,300 people with the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR.
