“Amar es el Milagro” Foundation was born from a very personal and profound journey. As parents of a child diagnosed with phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare inherited metabolic condition, we faced an unknown path filled with questions, challenges, and fears. At that time, there was no clear roadmap, no guidance, and very little support available. What we did know, however, was that we needed to learn quickly, adapt, and above all, love unconditionally.

This experience transformed our lives forever. What began as a family’s effort to understand and survive a rare condition became a mission to ensure that no other family would feel alone in this journey. Out of this conviction, the Amar es el Milagro Foundation was created.

Our work includes:

  • Nutritional education: helping families understand and follow the metabolic diet required for PKU.
  • Food and formula distribution: ensuring access to life-changing metabolic products.
  • Community building: creating spaces where families can connect, share, and support one another.
  • Awareness and advocacy: amplifying the voices of PKU families so that rare conditions are not ignored by health policies.
  • Educational resources: we have already published a book in Spanish (Feliz-cetonuria. Las recetas del Capitán Salsa de Tomate), created especially for the Hispanic community, and we are currently in the process of editing the English edition. All proceeds from book sales go directly to support the foundation’s mission, expanding our ability to reach and assist more families.

Though we are a young organization, founded in 2024, our impact is already being felt. We have supported families not only in the United States, but also in Latin America, where access to resources is even more limited. Each donation, volunteer hour, and shared message helps us reach more children and parents in need.

Every story we encounter reminds us of why this work is essential. Parents who finally feel they are not alone, children who can access the food they need to thrive, and communities who gain knowledge and strength from our collective efforts, these are the real measures of success for Amar es el Milagro.

Mission

Our mission is to accompany, guide, and support children and families affected by PKU and other inherited metabolic disorders. We provide educational resources, nutritional guidance, access to metabolic formulas and low-protein foods, and above all, emotional support. We know that while PKU has no cure, a strict and consistent diet can change everything, allowing children to grow, learn, and thrive.

We believe every child deserves not only medical care, but also an environment filled with love, dignity, and resilience. Our foundation works to provide families with the tools and resources they need to face their challenges, fostering hope and creating stronger connections within their communities.

Our vision is for Amar es el Milagro to become a leading reference organization for PKU and metabolic conditions across the Americas. We aspire to:

Expand access to formulas, supplements, and specialized foods for families in need.

Educate and raise awareness so that governments, health systems, and communities recognize the urgency of supporting these conditions.

Inspire a model of parenting based on unconditional love, resilience, and solidarity.

Build a global network of families that share their experiences and resources, creating a stronger voice for those affected by PKU.
