HELP RESTORE THE HISTORIC ACE THEATER, PRESERVE OUR STORIES AS WE BUILD TOWARD THE FUTURE

The Ace Theater Foundation, Inc.  ("Foundation") is leading the preservation and activation of the historic ACE Theater ("ACE") as a cultural anchor for Little Bahamas and West Coconut Grove, advancing the performing arts, film and media, educational series, heritage tourism, and workforce development for the creative industries.

The ACE is more than a building. It is a tangible link to the history and heritage of one of Miami's oldest neighborhoods. Built circa the 1930s by Wometco Enterprises, the ACE was the heartbeat of the Grove's black community. On Saturdays, children feasted on popcorn, cartoons, and Hercules movies. Parents clapped and cheered when their teens graduated or participated in talent shows. Grandparents harmonized and waved their hands as their favorite gospel groups praised the Lord inside the theater's air-conditioned walls.

In 1979, Wometco sold the ACE to local businessman Harvey Wallace and his wife Dorothy M. Wallace. Mrs. Wallace, a pioneering Miami-Dade County educator and community and civic leader, is best known for decades of leadership at COPE Center South, a public school for pregnant and parenting teens, renamed Dorothy M. Wallace Cope Center South in her honor. The Wallace's goal was to preserve the ACE for future generations as a tangible reminder of the many great people who lived in the Coconut Grove and helped build the cities of Miami and Coral Gables.

In 2014, the City of Miami listed the ACE as a historical site. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016, named one of the Most Endangered Sites by Dade Heritage Trust in 2021, and listed as one of the 11 to Save places in 2026 by the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.

The ACE is being restored as a multipurpose venue for live performances, receptions, youth music, arts, and theatrical events, film and media, community gatherings, educational and heritage tourism special events. The Foundation's work connects historic preservation with present-day opportunity, saving an important place where Miami residents can prepare for careers in the arts, entertainment, hospitality, tourism, and live-event industries.

While construction at the ACE is ongoing, we need additional funds to renovate the historic theater, preserve the memories of the people who made it a community landmark, and provide a state-of-the-art venue for the public to enjoy the arts, culture, and entertainment. Be part of this story! Your donation helps preserve the ACE Theater's legacy and create new opportunities for future generations. Every contribution counts!

¡SALVEMOS NUESTRO ESCENARIO! ¡NUESTRAS HISTORIAS! ¡NUESTRO FUTURO!
