6th Street Dance Studio, though housed in a single room studio, is a three-time Knight Arts Challenge winner. Awards were given in Miami for their free TruSchool dance program for children in urban dance, ballet, tap and performance; their collaborative Homegrown program bringing different types of young professional dancers together to work. They were also awarded a KAC in Detroit for Magic City vs. Motor City, a real-time freestyle urban dance battle between the 2 cities broadcast with Internet II at New World Symphony with live musicians in both cities. Brigid Baker has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in "Little Havana Me Importa: The Faces and Places That Define a Neighborhood," citing ten local residents whose passion, creativity, and penchant for history is ensuring that future generations will experience the Little Havana we know today. She was awarded the 2019 Community Champion Award in appreciation of hard work done in Little Havana. The studio says yes and hosts every kind of community activity and performance with free admission. The syllabi and schedule change and grow to accommodate the movement in Miami, permitting the greatest variety of humans to transit the space, while protecting the integrity of people and place.
